Rumpl Sherpa - Must Have
A big part of living life on the road is being comfortable and the Rumpl Sherpa is a lifesaver in colder climates. This toasty, comfy “sleeping bag blanket” has been exactly what we were hoping it would be - warm, compact, lightweight, and stylish. We’ve tested this blanket in temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit in the van, and we lived to tell the tale!
Rumpl has an impressive line-up of sleeping bag blankets in different materials and styles. They come in 4 sizes - Junior (28”x40”), Throw (50”x70”), Single (52”x75”), and Double (80”x84”). We have the double and it fits perfectly on our Queen size Murphy Bed. The Sherpa is made from 100% post-consumer recycled nylon sleeping-bag material on one side and soft sherpa fleece on the other. It is so soft - like sleeping on the peachfuzz of an angel’s bottom!
Why we love it: Rumpl blankets are designed to shed dirt and odor and we live in a van with a cat and a dog! Everything we use we use hard, so having a blanket that can stand up to hair, fur, and daily dirt is really important. It’s easy to wash, but do read the washing/drying instructions, as the materials can be damaged by extreme heat.
At first, we were skeptical that it could perform well because of how light it was. The first night we used it outside of Woodstock, NY, the lows were in the 40’s and our van wasn’t fully insulated yet. As soon as we got under the blanket, we were believers!. Jess gets cold easily and stays cold, but the Rumpl is warm almost immediately. - even on a chilly night.
Things to keep in mind: Sometimes… the blanket is too warm! Right now this blanket is the only layer we sleep under., which is great on laundry days. As we’ve gotten further south and the temperature has risen above 60 degrees, we are finding the blanket to be too warm at night. This being said - this is a great problem to have. For warmer days, check out the slightly cooler original Rumpl (still very warm though).
The take away: We love this blanket. It has kept the whole pack warm on some very chilly nights - as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit! Their line of products are great looking and perform well for an excellent price. The fabrics are soft, easy to clean, and warm to snuggle in. We also love the tab details that allow us to turn our Rumpl into a cape, strap it to the bed, or anchor it to the ground during picnics.
